More beneficiaries included

  1. The Union Cabinet has approved the increase in the target for the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana
  2. The beneficiaries will increase to eight crores from the earlier five crores
  3. This has to be achieved by 2020

Other Major Decisions

  1. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval for increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for fair average quality (FAQ) of ‘milling Copra’
  2. The Union Cabinet also approved the incorporation of the official amendments to the Major Port Authorities Bill 2016, pending in Parliament
  3. The amendments include:
  • increasing the number of labour representatives that can be appointed to the Port Authority Board
  • stipulating the term of office on the Board for a member representing the interests of the employees, and
  • setting the number of independent members on the Board of the Port Authority
