The National Sample Survey Office has released data from its 2011-12 round on education and vocational training.
- The NSSO data showed that only 2.4% people had technical degrees, diplomas or certificates in fields like medicine, engineering or agriculture.
- Nearly 90% of employable people did not receive any vocational training, which poses a challenge to govt.’s Skill India mission.
- More than 70% males cited that supplementing household income was the main reason for not being enrolled in any educational institution.
- Domestic chores prevented more than half of the females from studies.
