Explanation

The minimum age for contesting elections to panchayats is 21 years. In case of dissolution of Panchayats before expiry of its term, it is mandatory to hold elections within 6 months of its dissolution. Every Panchayat shall continue for full term of 5 years. However, a Panchayat reconstituted after premature dissolution shall continue for only the remainder of the period. If the period is less than 6 months then it is not mandatory to hold the elections. Tikdam: Easy 21 years for local bodies, 25 for LS, 30 for RS
