Why Civilsdaily’s UPSC Mentorship Program Is Unique?
UAP is NOT your regular course. This isn’t just a program, it’s an ecosystem built to deliver ranks. The core of UAP is – Fault Finding & Course Correction. While other mentorships feel like blackboxes-random calls, vague advice, zero accountability & mere doubt solving-ours is a precision system built to spot your faults and fix them fast. No fluff, no guesswork. Real mentorship means real corrections.

We follow 5 steps: The Approach → Weekly Targets → Note-Building → Testing → Test Discussions. Every step sharpens you. Every step pulls you closer to the list.
From crafting your strategy to squeezing out every last mark in Mains, UAP goes all in. In 2023, AIR 2 came from UAP. Many cleared in their first attempt. Others cracked it in their final shot.

What’s common? Grind, Focus, Clarity, and UAP. This alone is a strong enough reason why UAP is a unique program.

The heart of the Civilsdaily is the Ultimate Assessment Program (UAP). For years, aspirants have enrolled here because they couldn’t find such depth and passion towards quality content and Mentorship anywhere.
Their search for Mentorship inevitably ends at Civilsdaily.

What You Need to Crack UPSC-CSE in One Attempt

To succeed in UPSC-CSE in a single attempt, it’s essential to have a well-structured, strategic approach. Here’s a breakdown of the key program inclusions that will help you achieve that:

    • Goal Setting: The Foundation of Preparation Every month, you’ll have a clear timeline of what needs to be covered and by when. This ensures consistent progress, avoids burnout, and keeps you on the right track throughout your preparation.
    • Assessment-Based Approach A comprehensive strategy that focuses on covering the entire syllabus in the shortest time possible, while still allowing room for multiple revisions. This approach ensures you stay on top of every subject while reinforcing your understanding.
    • Concise & Comprehensive Notes Access to crisp, ranker-recommended notes on relevant micro themes, based on trends from previous years’ questions (PYQs). These notes will help you focus on high-priority topics without getting overwhelmed.
    • Practical & Effective Revision Strategy A tailored revision plan focused on one goal: qualifying both Prelims and Mains. This strategy ensures you’re not just learning but retaining information effectively for the exams.
    • Mastering the Theme & Demand of Mains Questions Understand how to approach Mains questions with the right “Theme-Demand” analysis. Build a ready reference of “Intro-Body-Conclusion” structures for repeated themes, helping you develop muscle memory for answering questions efficiently.
    • Sharp Feedback from Mentors Consistent, detailed feedback on every mock test you attempt for Prelims and Mains. The goal is to make all your mistakes during the mocks, so you go into the final exam fully prepared and confident.

By mastering these elements, you’ll build the skills, mindset, and preparation necessary to clear UPSC-CSE in one attempt.

Secondly, Let’s Understand Why Traditional Methods Fall Short

Relying solely on traditional methods attending 1:many classes, reading model answers, and taking a few mock tests-often creates the illusion that this is the core of Prelims and Mains preparation. In reality, these approaches make up only about 10% of a comprehensive strategy. When your goal is to secure a rank in the least number of attempts, the stakes are even higher. Here’s how UAP Mentorship elevates your preparation to the next level:

    • Personalized Study Plan: Sit down with a mentor to craft a detailed, fortnightly study schedule that covers the syllabus systematically. After each cycle, attempt a mock test to evaluate your progress and identify areas for improvement.
    • Expert Feedback: Practicing mocks is great, but imagine receiving sharp, actionable feedback from a mentor who has guided toppers like AIR 2, 22, 48, and others. Learn how to gain those crucial extra marks for each question and unlock the X-factor in your preparation.
    • Mapping Mains Themes: Solving Prelims and Mains PYQs is just the beginning. With UAP, you’ll work with mentors to map the UPSC syllabus onto key Mains themes, using PYQs to prioritize your revision efforts efficiently.
    • Crafting Concise Notes: Already created your Mains revision notes? Let’s take it further by refining them into concise one-pagers for each theme, complete with updated examples and multiple dimensions for deeper understanding.
    • Actionable Evaluation: Receiving an evaluated mock test copy is crucial-but what’s next? With UAP, we provide clear, actionable points to work on before you attempt your next mock, ensuring continuous improvement.

If you’re relying on outdated methods, UAP Mentorship might not be for you. But if you’ve tried those approaches and seen their limitations, now’s the time to level up. Apply for UAP Mentorship and experience the difference in your UPSC preparation journey.

What is the Ultimate Assessment Program (UAP)?

UAP is far from your typical course-it’s a complete ecosystem designed to handle every aspect of your UPSC preparation, from refining your strategy to significantly boosting your rank. In 2023, AIR 2 was one of the top ranks produced by UAP, alongside several other rankers. Many of these aspirants cleared the exam in their first attempt, while others succeeded in their final or second-to-last attempts.

These aspirants not only cleared Prelims with ease but also scored 400+ marks in their GS Mains papers. If your goal is to secure a top rank-be it IAS, IPS, or IFS-scoring 400+ in Mains is essential. To make your rank “interview-proof,” you should aim for nothing less than 450+. This is where UAP truly stands out.

UAP cuts through the overwhelming chaos of conventional preparation, bringing intense focus and clarity to your journey. With UAP, you’re not just preparing for an exam-you’re setting yourself up for success. The result? Your name on the final list next year.

Scoring big in Mains is not just about completing the syllabus or writing more tests. It’s about mastering the art of presentation, prioritization, and precision. The difference between an average GS copy and a top rank copy is not volume, it’s how effectively you communicate ideas within 10–12 minutes per answer.

On 10th July at 7 PM, join Arvind Sir, Lead, Smash Mains programme, for a powerful session that will break down exactly how to push your GS score to 450+. With years of experience mentoring rankers and examining real UPSC copies, Arvind Sir will share proven techniques that transform ordinary answers into score fetching ones.

You will learn how to optimize answer structure, use data, diagrams, and keywords smartly, and write introductions and conclusions that actually elevate your scores. Special attention will be given to GS2 and GS4, the two papers where most aspirants lose marks unknowingly.

More importantly, this isn’t just about writing more. It’s about writing better. Arvind Sir will show how to bring clarity, flow, and examiner friendly formatting into your answers, so that you stand out in a sea of average answers. Real examples from UPSC 2023 and 2024 will be discussed, giving you direct insight into what worked. Join him on 10th July at 7PM.

Read about The UPSC Mains Strategy & Prep Webinar

If you are writing Mains for UPSC 2025 or Preparing for 2026, you have probably realised this already, the Mains paper isn’t what it used to be. The kind of GS questions being asked, especially in GS1 and GS3, have become trickier, layered, and more conceptual. The old school method of writing answers with a plain Introduction Body Conclusion doesn’t work anymore. And if you are still holding on to it, you are unknowingly keeping your scores stuck in the average zone.

This is why we are hosting a special session with Lavanya Gaur (AIR 57, UPSC CSE 2024) on 4th July at 7 PM. She is going to walk you through how she handled the most challenging GS1 and GS3 questions using what we now call the Theme-Demand Approach. This isn’t just theory. It’s a strategy shaped by actual Mains experience and refined by observing patterns in UPSC’s evolving question design.

What exactly is the Theme-Demand approach? It’s a powerful way to break down complex GS questions by identifying the core theme and understanding the examiner’s demand, which is often hidden beneath generic wording. It allows you to move beyond the surface and write answers that actually score.

Lavanya will share how this helped her structure crisp, relevant, and enriched answers even when the questions felt vague or multi dimensional. You will learn how to rewire your Mains strategy, not just in terms of structure, but also how you analyse questions, recall content, and frame arguments.

If you are aiming to improve your GS scores this year or even laying your foundation for 2026, this session can change how you look at Mains preparation. It’s free, live, and packed with actionable insights. Join the session on 4th July at 7PM.

How do you turn average GS scores into rank making marks? That’s exactly what Utkarsh Srivastava, AIR 498 in UPSC 2024, did. Utkarsh raised his GS score by an incredible 114 marks between attempts, not by working longer hours or writing dozens of mock tests, but by reworking his system from the ground up. He focused on building brick by brick improvements, creating micro notes that captured what really matters, mastering the art of writing crisp and structured 10 markers in 7 minutes, and using credible data, reports, and examples to make every answer feel complete and examiner friendly.

In this session, Utkarsh will share how he identified high yield microthemes from the syllabus and PYQs, how he broke down GS answers using the “10-12 / 17-18 point rule” for 10 and 15 markers, and how he used ARC reports, NITI Aayog data, and government schemes to add depth without wasting time. You will also learn how to manage your time effectively in Mains, build an active recall note system that works, and focus on the small changes that add up to 100+ extra marks across papers. Whether you are preparing for UPSC 2025 Mains or 2026, this session will help you see what truly differentiates a ranker’s GS copy from the rest.

Join Utkarsh Srivastava live on 25th June 2025 at 7 PM for a detailed, no nonsense look at how to raise your GS scores, not through hype or noise, but through a system that actually works, brick by brick. This is your chance to learn from someone who has been through the grind and emerged stronger.

Why We Must Rethink Mains Preparation and How Smash Mains Stands Apart from Other Mains Programs

Traditional methods believe that mains prep is just about Answer Writing. In reality, that is just 20% of overall Mains prep

They don’t focus on Notes, Revision, Answer Thinking, Enrichment, Structure etc.

Conventional wisdom doesn’t work, and it worries us that so many Mains aspirants still follow outdated methods and obsolete, ‘far from reality’ programs.

Conventional wisdom is lazy thinking. It’s looking at old and obsolete ways and believing that’s what will work in the future, too. Continuing to rely on outdated methods is similar to expecting a horse and carriage to compete with a modern car.

It’s looking at average notes, incomplete revision, and existing approaches to Mains Prep and then believing that’s the best you can do.

The opposite of conventional wisdom is first principles. Rethinking the whole Mains Prep from scratch and building from there to align with UPSC requirements. Rigorously testing each Mains question and answer in a mock test and giving sharp feedback to continuously improve the score.

If you still believe in those methodologies, then Smash isn’t for you. But if you have tried old ways and realized their futility, then apply for Smash Mains today.

Before joining any test series, get your copies evaluated by our Mentors

Animesh’s command on answer writing grew month after month with each test. We did a detailed session discussing his evolution.

He didn’t follow conventional wisdom. He knew precisely what to focus on and what was important, and this is what he brings to the students of Smash Mains this year.

Smash Mains is the entire Mains program re-engineered.

How Smash Mains helped make Rankers

Shishir (AIR 16) thanked Civilsdaily’s mentorship and Smash Mains Program

GVS Pavandatta (AIR 22) – Explaining how Smash Mains Program helped him get a rank

Aaditya Pandey (AIR 48) attributes his success story to CD’s Mentorship with Smash Mains

Priya Rani (AIR 69) discussing Sukanya Ma’am’s contribution to her Answer Writing Skills

Vivek Sonawane, IPS, gives credit to Smash Mains for his success

Durga Prasad Adhikary, AIR 162 explains how Value-Addition from Smash Mains helped him get a Rank

Not putting Penguins among the Fowls – You already know how to write an average answer (you’re missing it by a few marks actually). You want to know how to increase your score from 90 to 110-115. The approach followed by other institutes in their Test series is the same for a veteran and a complete newbie and here lies the problem. Without personalized one-to-one interaction, it will be difficult for you to rectify these minute yet very important shortcomings.

Evaluation is a strength of this program and we put it on a high priority. Arvind sir himself is involved in the process, unlike other institutes where evaluation is outsourced to those who themselves might not have appeared for mains (It’s bizarre). It shouldn’t be based on ‘model answers’ as there are 3-4 ways of approaching an answer. Only a seasoned player will be able to go beyond these model answers and be able to appreciate your approach (If it’s innovative) even if it differs from the model answers provided.

Test copies get checked in a time-bound manner. The questions, answers, and material provided are of the highest quality.

Always on time and insightful discussions end with a reality check and motivation to perform better in the next test.

Emphasis on execution and utilization of knowledge – Mains is not only about knowledge but also about optimally expressing the relevant knowledge.

Our mentor’s interventions are highly specific and not generalized. Sitting right in front of you, he walks you through each question. He is always there, and he will not let you lose your focus.

    6 Pillars of Smash Mains

    1. Mentorship:
      • Focus on developing your unique style rather than copying top scorers or model answers.
      • Post-test mentor calls prioritize improvement areas for future tests, with question-level evaluation.
      • Mentors stay updated on evolving UPSC standards and guide students based on their writing style.
    2. Question Framing:
      • Each question is designed to align with emerging UPSC trends and maximize hit-ratio.
      • Focus on repeating themes (e.g., in Art and Culture) to prepare students for probable questions.
      • Questions follow a balanced distribution that mirrors UPSC’s subject-wise weightage.
      • Detailed questions ensure that the theme and demand align with UPSC standards.
    3. Answer Writing Frameworks:
      • Answer writing should stay aligned with the theme and demand of the question.
      • Use of structured frameworks like DAE (Dimension-Argument-Example) to make arguments more powerful.
      • Focus on coherence, enriched introductions, well-structured body content, and thoughtful conclusions.
    4. Answer Evaluation:
      • Civilsdaily’s evaluation ensures consistent scoring across evaluators, reflecting true progress.
      • Feedback is structured and geared towards improving question comprehension and presentation.
      • Beyond simple marks, evaluators focus on theme demand and writing improvements.
    5. Model Answers:
      • Model answers go beyond basic requirements, offering enriched study content.
      • Includes data, reports, and examples with clear structure (Introduction, Body, Conclusion).
      • Specialized questions for nuanced topics help students practice effectively for the exam.
    6. X-Factor Notes:
      • Smash Mains provides a structured approach to building notes aligned with the Mains syllabus.
      • Notes cover all keywords from the syllabus, based on PYQs, ensuring relevance for the exam.

Scoring 108 in GS3 is no accident, it’s the result of a system that works. In his fourth attempt, Shubham Kaurav (AIR 291, UPSC 2024), pulled off a remarkable turnaround. He increased his Mains score by 82 marks and what truly stood out was his score in GS Paper 3: a staggering 108 marks, one of the highest in the country. But he didn’t do this by just reading more books or writing generic answers. He built a smart, repeatable, and feedback-driven approach that worked even under pressure.

In this session, Shubham will walk you through the exact framework that helped him crack GS3. His method was focused on identifying high yield microthemes using the syllabus and PYQs. He didn’t waste time memorising facts blindly. Instead, he made notes around core issues, adding depth through data from the Economic Survey , authentic government reports, and committee recommendations like Urjit Patel and 2nd ARC.

What made his answers different was how visual and structured they were. Maps, flowcharts, structured intros, balanced conclusions , each part served a purpose. His value addition was sharp and relevant, not decorative. And behind all this was consistency: daily answer writing, peer reviewed feedback, and smart use of tools like ChatGPT to streamline preparation.

As Shubham says, “Like bamboo, growth may be invisible for a while, but when it comes, it’s exponential.” His journey is proof that if you write with clarity, structure, and precision, your answers will not just be read, they’ll be rewarded.

If GS3 has been your weakest paper or the one where effort hasn’t translated to marks, this session will help you rewire your approach. Whether you’re targeting 100+ or pushing for 110+, you’ll walk away with a toolkit that works. Join Shubham Kaurav live on 19th June, Monday at 7 PM

Cracking UPSC in the first attempt is no longer a rare feat. This year alone, at least 8 aspirants in the Top 100, including Rank 26 Shivansh and Rank 44 Mudita, made it happen. And they didn’t come from privileged routines or perfect conditions. What they had in common was a smart, focused, and consistent plan, one that respected their time, energy, and limitations.

All the rankers (who qualified UPSC in one attempt) followed a completely different approach. Their prep was far from conventional way. They ruthlessly prioritised their syllabus (Microthemes), had a clear weekly plan, frequent assessments (Pre + Mains mocks), sharp feedback session (post test) by their mentors. And this is the one thing that you must understand in your first attempt.

If you are targeting UPSC 2027 and wondering whether it’s even possible with just 5 hours a day, the answer is yes. Whether you are a college student or a working professional, you don’t need to quit everything or follow 12 hour routines to make it. You just need a routine that actually works for your lifestyle.

That’s exactly what Rohit Pande Sir will help you build in this live session. He’ll break down a realistic 5 hour daily plan, one that’s worked for hundreds of aspirants who started just like you, short on time but big on intent. You will learn how to divide your day between GS, optional, current affairs, and writing, how to build weekly and monthly targets, and how to stay on track even when life gets busy.

This is your chance to start early, start right, and prepare with clarity, just like the toppers did. Join live on 12th June at 7 PM

Most aspirants spend months writing answers, solving mocks, and revising endlessly and yet, many walk into the interview stage with one quiet regret: “I wish I had fixed my Mains answers earlier.”

    So what really goes wrong?

It’s rarely about knowledge. Most serious aspirants know enough. What hurts them are the blind spots, the small, recurring issues that quietly cost marks: missing structure, generic examples, one dimensional arguments, shallow intros, or abrupt conclusions. These aren’t glaring mistakes, which is why they often go unnoticed. But they add up. A 1 to 1.5 mark drop per answer across 80+ answers can decide whether you land in the final list or just miss it.

Look at Animesh, AIR 2. He scored 170 in the interview, but even if that number had been 160, his solid Mains scores would have still secured him IAS. That’s what well built, “interview proof” Mains answers can do. They give you a cushion. They shift the pressure off your interview. And they bring a sense of control to your journey.

In this special session, Arvind Sir, Lead Mentor of Smash Mains, will walk you through how to spot and fix those silent killers in your answers, blind spots even good students don’t realize they have. Having evaluated thousands of copies from both toppers and average scorers, he knows what truly sets apart a “decent” answer from a “topper ready” one.

Whether you’re writing in 2025 or 2026, this is your chance to finally write answers that don’t just fill space, they fetch marks. Join Arvind Sir live on 9th June at 7 PM
